Blood pressure chart

Blood pressure chart

Blood pressure readings fall into four general categories, ranging from normal to stage 2 high blood pressure (hypertension). The level of your blood pressure determines what kind of treatment you may need. To get an accurate blood pressure measurement, your doctor should evaluate your readings based on the average of two or more blood pressure readings at three or more office visits. This blood pressure chart can help you figure out if your blood pressure is at a healthy level or if you'll need to take some steps to improve your numbers.

Here's a look at the four blood pressure categories and what they mean for you. If your readings fall into two different categories, your correct blood pressure category is the higher category. For example, if your blood pressure reading is 125/95 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg), you have stage 1 hypertension.
Top number (systolic) in mm HgBottom number (diastolic) in mm HgYour category*What to do †
*Ranges may be lower for children and teenagers. Talk to your child's doctor if you're concerned your child has high blood pressure.
†Note: These recommendations address high blood pressure as a single health condition. If you also have heart disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease or certain other conditions, you may need to treat your blood pressure more aggressively.
Below 120and Below 80Normal blood pressureMaintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Between 120-139or Between 80-89PrehypertensionMaintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Between 140-159or Between 90-99Stage 1 hypertensionMaintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle. If your blood pressure goal isn't reached in about a month, talk to your doctor about taking one or more medications.
160 or higheror 100 or higherStage 2 hypertensionMaintain or adopt a healthy lifestyle. Talk to your doctor about taking more than one medication.
If you're a healthy adult younger than age 60, or if you have chronic kidney disease, diabetes or coronary artery disease, your treatment goal is less than 140/90 mm Hg. If you're a healthy adult age 60 or older, your treatment goal is less than 150/90 mm Hg.
If your blood pressure is normal, maintaining or adopting a healthy lifestyle can prevent or delay the onset of high blood pressure or other health problems. If your blood pressure isn't normal, a healthy lifestyle — oftentimes along with medication — can help bring it under control and reduce your risk of life-threatening complications

Skin Cancer Signs

Skin cancer is by far the most common type of cancer. Nearly all skin cancers can be treated effectively if they are found early, so knowing what to look for is important.
Basal Cell Carcinoma Group 5 thumbnailThere are many types of skin cancer, each of which can look different on the skin. This picture gallery contains some examples of the more common types of skin cancer, as well as some other non-cancerous types of skin growths. But skin cancers can look different from these examples. This is why it’s important to see a doctor if you have any lumps, bumps, spots, sores, or other marks on your skin that are new or changing, or that worry you for any other reason.

Basal cell carcinomas can sometimes be difficult to see, such as this one on the face. They can appear as pale, pink, or red, shiny or pearly bumps.

Myocardial infarction

The Myocardial infarction

An acute myocardial infarction, also known as a heart attack, is when a blood vessel in the heart suddenly becomes blocked, and the blood stops moving to part of the heart. This part of the heart does not get oxygen so the muscle there begins to die. Blood clotsare the most common cause of heart attacks.
Heart attacks are mostly caused by coronary heart disease. In coronary heart disease a wax-like substance called plaque builds up on the inside walls of arteries within the heart. This is called atherosclerosis. Plaque is made of cholesterol and other cells. The amount of plaque increases slowly and makes the inside of the blood vessel narrower. Less blood can flow through the blood vessel and blood platelets can build up in front of the plaque and make a clot. If the clot breaks free and gets stuck in part of the blood vessel made narrower by the plaque, a heart attack happens. Most coronary heart disease, which causes heart attacks is because of a persons behaviors and lifestyle. This includes eating unhealthy foods, not exercising, smoking cigarettes and drinking too much alcohol.[source?]
A heart attack is a medical emergency. The first few minutes are very important for keeping the person alive. Some of the damage from the heart attack can be repaired in the first hour. The most common symptom is strong pains in the chest. The pain may also be in the shoulders, belly, and jaw. A heart attack always damages the heart muscle, unlike angina pectoris.

Symptoms

Heart attack
(myocardial infarction)
Warning signs in women.

Coronary heart disease: Plaque builds up in blood vessels in the heart making them narrow,
Heart attack: here, a blood clot suddenly gets stuck in one of the narrow blood vessels.
Signs that a person is having a heart attack show over several minutes, and rarely come immediately. Most people having a heart attack have chest pain. Chest pain can be caused byischaemia (a lack of blood and oxygen) of the heart muscle; this is called angina pectoris. Pain can often also be felt in the left arm, and sometimes in the lower jaw, the neck, the right arm, the back, and in parts of the abdomen.
Many women have different symptoms than men. The most common symptoms include shortness of breath, weakness, and feeling tired. Some women feel tired, do not sleep properly, and experience shortness of breath for up to a month before they have a heart attack.

Treatment

File:Heart attack animation.ogv
The animation shows how plaque buildup or a coronary artery spasm can lead to a heart attack and how blocked blood flow in a coronary artery can lead to a heart attack.
A heart attack is a medical emergency that needs to be taken care of as quickly as possible. The most important thing is to save as muchmyocardium as possible and prevent more complications. As time passes, the risk of damage to the heart muscle increases.
The treatments may have complications. If medics try to get the blood flowing again after only a few hours, the result is reperfusion injuryinstead of amelioration.[1] Other treatments may also cause complications; the use of antithrombotics for example increases risk ofbleeding.

First aid

When a person starts experiencing symptoms of a heart attack, they should seek emergency assistance as soon as they can. However, the average person waits about three hours before asking for help. Sitting in the right way can help reduce breathing difficulties. A half-sitting position with knees bent is often recommended. The person should also be given more oxygen. Aspirin, which reduces the amount of platelets in the blood, can help prevent more blood clots from forming inside the arteries and the heart.

    Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

A second version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 launched alongside the standard S6 at MWC. In other respects the specs are in line with the standard S6, but expect to pay a premium for that fancy screen. Learn more about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge here, which went on sale in the UK on 10 April 2015. Prices start at £760 SIM-free for the 64GB version.

    Best new phones 2015

A Samsung Galaxy flagship launch is traditionally followed by several variants, most importantly a compact version, but we've also seen variants that offer, for example, improved cameras or more ruggedised designs. The Samsung Galaxy S6 mini is likely to arrive a few months after the standard Samsung Galaxy S6, perhaps in late July/early August, and will be a more compact version of its bigger brother with a slightly slimmed down spec. We expect to see a 4.7in full-HD screen, a slower-clocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, perhaps 2GB of RAM and 16- and 5Mp cameras. You can read our Samsung Galaxy S6 mini predictions here.

Part of the reason we're so excited about the upcoming Microsoft Lumia 940 and 940 XL is that they will be among the first handsets to run full Windows 10 - Microsoft is to finally tackle the Windows Phone apps problem by running one OS across phones, tablets, PCs and laptops. As always, we're expecting a faster processor and some upgraded specs, but little change to the design.
